Topic: Energy Performance of LEED Buildings
Speaker: Cathy Turner, Senior Analyst - New Buildings Institute
This session presents the findings from NBI’s study of measured energy performance of 121 LEED buildings, all of which had been occupied for at least one year. That data showed that on average LEED buildings are delivering anticipated energy savings; three different views of building performance consistently show average savings of 25 to 30 percent. However, the study also revealed wide variability among individual buildings results, indicating significant potential for further improvement. Discussion will be encouraged of questions, possible implications, and recommended actions suggested by the metrics used and the comparisons of modeled and measured energy performance.
