Energy Conservation in LEED Gold Hospital from the Owner’s Perspective
Speaker: Richard E. Beam, CEP, MBA; Director, Energy Management Services; Providence Health System
Description:
The
majority of folks involved in sustainability activities typically see
only a portion of the process of integrating energy conservation
measures into a new building, and then usually from the vantage of the
engineer, contractor or building operator.
Our
speaker brings a unique background and understanding of the overall
development of sustainable buildings and will use it to outline the
reality of actually designing, building and operating the LEED
Certified Gold Newberg Hospital.
The points to be covered vis-à-vis energy conservation and sustainability from the Owner’s point of view are:
-Project description
-Expectations at the time of conceptual design and how it affected the business case
-Description of the process of implementing conservation measures into the design and construction
-The reality after construction and commissioning is complete
-Changes or corrective actions taken during the process
-The ultimate soundness of the original analysis
-Lessons learned
