Low Impact Development
Come and join the Tacoma/Olympia Branch of the Cascadia Region Green Building Council for a presentation on Low Impact development by Curtis Hinman of the WSU Puyallup Extension and Research Center.
The City of Puyallup, in partnership with the WSU Puyallup Research and Extension Center, proposes to significantly reduce stormwater volumes and improve water quality treatment at the Center through this urban stormwater retrofit project. No stormwater flow control or treatment exists on the site and stormwater is discharged directly from these surfaces to Woodland Creek which confluences with Clark's Creek and eventually the Puyallup River. Monitoring of flow and water quality will be one for data collection and analysis to assist designers to make more informed decisions when applying LID practices. Curtis will present what they did and how they did it.
WSU Puyallup is a university center located within fifty miles of more than 60% of the state's population. The Center has played a vital role in Washington for over a century, providing high quality research, extension and instruction programs. These programs support technological innovation, food production, natural resource stewardship, youth development, human nutrition and community enhancement. WSU Puyallup houses multiple world class research and extension programs as well as much of the leadership for the many statewide extension and outreach programs.
