Peter Busby and Ray Cole
Peter Busby received his BA from the University of Toronto and completed his Architecture degree at UBC. He founded his architectural firm in Vancouver in 1984. Busby Perkins+Will now employs more than seventy people involved in projects across Canada, the U.S., Europe and the Middle East, and is recognized internationally as a leader in green building design. Busby is a founding member and current chair of the Canada Green Building Council. In 1997 he was admitted to the College of Fellows of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and in 2005 he was invested as a member of the Governor General’s Order of Canada, the highest civilian award in the country.
Ray Cole is Director of the UBC School of Architecture + Landscape Architecture. He has been teaching environmental issues in building design for thirty years and served on international committees related to buildings and the environment. In 2001, Dr. Cole was named Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture Distinguished Professor for “sustained commitment to building environmental research and teaching”. In 2003, he received the Architectural Institute of BC’s Barbara Dalrymple Memorial Award for Community Service and the US Green Building Council’s Green Public Service Leadership Award. Dr. Cole is a Director of the Canada Solar Buildings Research Network, past Director of the Canada Green Building Council, and is a UBC Distinguished University Scholar.
