Presenter: Dennis Wilde, Gerding Edlen Development
Creating sustainable and inspiring places to work, live and learn.
Dennis Wilde is a principal at Gerding Edlen, a progressive commercial real estate development services firm. Gerding Edlen in 2007 became the first development company to aim for the Living Building level in several of its new developments. Gerding Edlen has further committed to having all of it’s projects produce more energy than they consume and consume more waste than they produce by 2012.
Wilde’s passion for sustainable urban development runs deep. From his graduate studies in architecture and urban planning to his current role at Gerding Edlen, heading up their new renewable energy company. Environmental responsibility and smart design are central to his philosophy. He first realized the possibilities of sustainability from a business perspective while attending a workshop on the Natural Step in 1997, the same year he joined Gerding Edlen. Dennis was drawn to the company because of the ethical standards that Bob Gerding and Mark Edlen articulated and employed in all of their dealings.
As Gerding Edlen’s designated “green guy,” Dennis has encouraged increased sustainability in development projects while building a strong business case for the economic and social benefits of environmental responsibility. He has more than 20 years of experience in urban planning and design, and has been active in construction and real estate development since 1967.
Doors open at 6:30pm, lecture starts at 7:00pm.
