Help us lead the way!

Calling all great minds of Cascadia: Volunteer for Living Future 09!

Were you inspired by the ideas and people of Living Future 08 or 07? Do you want to play an active role in empowering the professionals of our region to lead us into a truly sustainable future?

To build living communities, we must all work together to create them.

What we need

We need volunteers to help coordinate elements of unconference preparation, as well as to assist us during the conference.

Pre-event Volunteering

There are a number of ways to help us prepare for the unconference. Please read the opportunities below, and email us with how you would specifically like to help.

  • Community and Networking Activities - responsible for coordinating and implementing community projects, in-conference networking activities and "extracurricular" activities. This is a committee that meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:15pm in the Alder Room of the Ecotrust Building (721 NW 9th Ave.).
  • Marketing Advisors - offer guidance on the unconference marketing language and strategies.
  • Assist with vetting Trade Show applicants (must have expertise in design, products and/or materials)
  • Make connections that will help us acquire donations or sponsorship
  • More opportunities to come...

Volunteering During the Event

We will need volunteers to help during the event on such activities as set-up/take-down, registration, ushering, and session room monitoring. If interested, please email us and specifically mention that you want to volunteer during the event.

*If you are registering at the Emerging Green Builder rate, we will be asking you to volunteer for at least 1 shift.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Although we are unable to offer complimentary registrations to volunteers, there are benefits to volunteering, other than helping to put together an amazing event:

  • Excellent opportunities to network with like-minded professionals
  • Ability to get a behind-the-scenes view of orchestrating a premier conference
  • Volunteers who attend all relevant meetings, contribute at least 40 hours (total) of volunteer time for the conference, and work at least 1 shift during the event will be eligible for a substantial discount on registration.

This is your chance to help motivate the leaders of today, inspire the leaders of tomorrow, and be a leader yourself.
