DENNIS WILDE Principal Dennis Wilde’s passion for sustainable urban development runs deep. From his graduate studies in architecture and urban planning to his current role at Gerding Edlen, environmental responsibility and smart design are central to his philosophy. He first realized the possibilities of sustainability from a business perspective while attending a workshop on the Natural Step in 1997, the same year he joined Gerding Edlen. Dennis was drawn to the company because of the ethical standards that Bob and Mark articulated and employed in all of their dealings. As Gerding Edlen’s designated “green guy,” Dennis has encouraged increased sustainability in development projects while building a strong business case for the economic and social benefits of environmental responsibility. Dennis’ responsibilities include feasibility studies, management of the pre-construction process and overall project management. He is also an active board member of the Oregon Natural Step Network. Dennis is passionate about design as well, believing that it is an expression of man’s highest aspirations. He has more than 20 years of experience in urban planning and design, and has been active in construction and real estate development since 1967. He earned a degree in Architectural Engineering from Washington State University, as well as master's degrees in architecture and urban planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
I have been the point person for Gerding Edlen's green practices over the past 11 years. Gerding Edlen is considered the leader amoung real estate development companies in the United States in the pursuit of sustainable practices in the built environment.
I currently serve on the Cascadia Green Building Council as secretary. I am also a board member and past chair of Oregon Natural Step Network. I also serve on the City of Portland Development Review Advisory Commission
I have a passion and life long commitment to creating a world where man lives in harmony with the planet we call home. I am not afraid to speak up about the need for change in how we make it happen very soon.
Cascadia is a leader within the green building community. The need for rapid change is reflected in the creative steps that Cascadia is initiating. The Living Building Challenge and Pharos are just two of the programs that Cascadia is bringing to the design and construction industry. I want to continue to play a role in their successful launch.
