I have been a consultant on energy efficient and resource responsible buildings for more than 20 years. For the last 10 years, I have been focused on changing the direction of our firm and industry toward creating truly integrated sustainable design for buildings. I am focused on advancing our firm, our industry and our region to a leadership position in sustainable design standards. I am passionate about bringing the science and the art together to make genuinely sustainable projects. Through my leadership, our firm has become known as a leader in engineering green buildings.
I have demonstrated leadership in green building by first transforming our firm to true sustainable thinking, both in our internal operations as well as in the designs we deliver to our clients. Associated with more than 60 LEED projects, I have focused on advancing engineering toward the ultimate sustainable future with every project on which I am involved. I am committed to continuing the advancement of the green engineering approach, knowledge, tools, building sciences and codes.
Interface and I are active members of Cascadia Green Building Council. We have hosted many of the Cascadia meetings and events at our offices. However, I have not been as active as I would have liked; hence my nomination is my goal of commitment to maximize my involvement with Cascadia.
I have served on the Board of Directors of both private for-profit and non-profit organizations. I understand the role of a board member is to have foresight, set direction and provide leadership to an organization. I would like to serve the Cascadia Board with my experience as a business and community leader. I would like be a voice for advancing technologies, advancing the science and tools needed to achieve living building standards, and advancing sustainability. I also bring strong experience in financial management.
I wish to serve as a board member because I have a passion for moving our industry into a more central role in creating a better future and a better world. I believe the challenge involves changing ourselves and our world, but it is also a challenge of science and engineering. I want to serve on the Board because this organization is doing such positive things in the industry and I want to contribute to its vision and direction.
