Introducing House Bill
1272: Washington State Green Building Legislation
On Jan. 19,
Rep. Hans Dunshee introduced House Bill 1272 in the WA State Legislature
which would require all WA State public buildings to be built to the LEED
Silver standard (K-12 schools would have the option of building to the
Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol). The Bill was co-sponsored by 42
other legislators. If enacted, Washington would become the first state in
the nation to implement green building requirements through legislation.

Launches
Second only to water, concrete is the most used
material on the planet. Every pound of binding cement in concrete generates
a pound of carbon dioxide. The Climate Trust has launched its newest carbon

Green Investment Fund RFP
The
City of Portland Green Investment Fund released a request for proposals on
January 10. The $2.5 million, 5 year green building and site innovative
grant program releases $500,000 in funding with submittals due February 15,

Oregon Home Building Association has named Gretchen Palmer, a founding

The 32 industry trade
associations are mostly wood and plastic associations including the American
Forest & Paper Association, American Plastics Council and the Vinyl
