That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind
On Dec. 17, the OR Plumbing Board approved waterless urinals in all public facilities in Oregon (city, state, county and federal). Prior to this decision, waterless urinals were outlawed in Oregon. Congratulations to all of us who helped work toward this victory. Read New Regulation
LEED-NC Version 2.2 First Public Comment Period Now Open
The USGBC is soliciting comments on the first draft of the LEED for New Construction Rating System (LEED-NC), version 2.2. The first public comment period will be open for 60 days through Feb. 1 at 5 PM Pacific Standard Time. All members of the public are invited to comment on this draft. Your comments are extremely important. Please take some time to give your feedback. Please visit the LEED website to submit comments or to learn more.
The PDQ on PVC
On Dec. 22, the USGBC issued its Draft Report for public comment on the use of PVC in buildings and a recommendation on how the study should be treated in the LEED® Green Building Rating System. Public comments are due by February 15. View Draft and Comment

Congratulations Lynne
Lynne Barker with the City of Seattle will be rotating off the USGBC Board this month after completing her term. Lynne is one of the founders of the Cascadia Chapter and has been a tireless advocate for all Chapters on the USGBC Board. Congratulations Lynne on a job well done.

Lewis & Clark, Pioneers Again
Lewis & Clark College was awarded LEED-NC 2.0/2.1 Silver Certification for the Roberts Residence Hall in December. SERA Architects designed the building which received 34 points. This is the College’s first LEED building. Read more

The World Green Building Council has launched its new website, www.worldgbc.org. The WorldGBC is a global federation of 12 Green Building Councils from around the world whose common goal is the sustainable transformation of the global building industry. The website provides a roadmap for other countries aiming to set up their own non-profit Council.
